[edit] Troubleshooting
- Web-based mail requires the Apache web server to be configured and running.
- Do not forget to open up appropriate firewall ports for your web-based mail server: port 443 (HTTPS) or port 80 (HTTP) if you are allowing non-encrypted connections (not recommended).
- Web-based mail requires the IMAP (non-encrypted) server to be running.
- Using webmail simultaneously with mail clients configured to use POP instead of IMAP to retrieve mail will result in the possible loss of mail.
- If accessing web-based mail on port 443 (HTTPS protocol), users will receive a pop-up warning similar to that shown below for any browser in which mail has not been accessed previously. This is normal and does not diminish the fact that the connection is encrypted and secure. Select the "Accept this certificate permanently" to surpress this pop-up on future logins.
