Overview

Though it has only been four months since the last release, version 4.2 brings quite a few new features!  This first beta release contains a lot of stable features along with untested new features, including:

  • Mail archiving
  • Encrypted file system support
  • Updated content filter engine

What's New

Here are some comments on the new features.

Web Access Control

Information on Web Access Control is available in the user guide.  To install this module, run:
apt-get update; apt-get install cc-squid-acl.

Mail Archive

Information on the Mail Archive feature is available in the user guide.  To install this module, run:
apt-get update; apt-get install cc-archive.

Asterisk

Integrating Asterisk will require some feedback from the user community.  The core of the problem is the architecture of the Zaptel Asterisk driver.  Some of the features for this driver can only be implemented at build time, so this makes it difficult to ship a ready-to-go Asterisk system.  To overcome this limitation, a decision needs to be made on which hardware and software (e.g. FreePBX) to support.  More information on this topic along with a suggested Asterisk roadmap will be available during the beta period.

Known Issues

There are still quite a number of known issues, the most important are:

  • Installer may crash with message "installer exited abnormally"
  • Some buttons and other elements in the web-based administration do not render properly
  • Form validation is incomplete
  • Web-based administration tool does render in Safari on Mac OS X
